Dear Friends,
Centre For Sight was established in 1996 by me, with the philosophy, “every eye deserves the best”. Since its inception, Centre for Sight has been guided by patient centric values of efficiency, precision, compassion and integrity. Our values and dedication have helped us gradually gain the reputation of being a leading provider of quality eye care in India. From a humble beginning, Centre For Sight has evolved into a leading chain of hospitals having multiple branches across the country.
Over the years, I realized that there is a huge section of the society that still remained underserved. These were people who were economically weak and had little or no access to quality eye care services. Limited access to eye care can mean a life limited by needless blindness.
I felt that something needed to be done to improve the situation of the underprivileged living with the mountain of blindness and to overcome barriers impeding delivery of quality eye care, especially cataract care to underserved, needlessly blind people in the region.
NDCFS Foundation was born out of a need and desire to help. NDCFS Foundation’s approach is to provide quality eye care at prices that everyone can afford.
We also endeavour in a humble way to reach the underprivileged and economically weak living with needless blindness in remote areas with little or no access to quality eye services and give them an encouraging new lease of life.
Looking at the data on the blind people in India, there are more than 8 million* blind people in India. That’s about 30% of the world’s total blind population – most of whom went blind unnecessarily. The problem is huge but I cannot rest on the premise that one person or organization cannot do much to help these many people.
At NDCFS Foundation, we believe that we can help bring new treatments to patients with eye diseases faster than ever before. By raising funds for crucial research, education and patient care at Centre For Sight and its academic wing, the Centre For Sight Eye Institute, we are able to help ensure that they remain at the forefront of ophthalmic care and research.
We are working to unlock the potential of the India’s poorest communities by making eye care easily accessible. We are looking at strong partnerships to provide us with much needed support and be the fuel at the core of our work.
Through support from our donors, we will be able to:
- Help provide the best possible eye care for our patients
- Invest in state-of-the-art equipment
- Educate the researchers and clinicians of tomorrow
- Fund research to find better and more effective treatments for blinding diseases
I am firmly convinced that each of us can, in our own small way, be the agents of change, and when enough of us become one, the impact is a lasting change for the better. As more people help, more people are helped. I appeal to people and organizations to come forward and experience the joy of transforming lives in a simple way.
Let’s work together to change lives and by give the Gift of Sight. Strengthen our hands to create ‘a ray of hope and way forward’.
