Phacoshala: The Wet Lab Training for Budding Surgeons
Phacoshala covers predominantly basic phacoemulsification cataract surgery aimed primarily at trainee ophthalmologists at the start of their surgical career or trainee ophthalmologists who need hands-on experience in phacoemulsification cataract surgery. Advanced phacoemulsification wet labs are also available which will allow trainees to practice various techniques.
Our goals for trainee surgeons in the Phacoshala are:
1) Learn the basic steps in phacoemulsification
2) Learn how to use an operating microscope
3) Know the parameters and settings of the phacoemulsification machine
4) Become familiar with the surgical instruments.
Phacoshala gives trainees the unique skills to coordinate all the different aspects of phacoemulsification surgery. Phacoshala commences with three hours of didactic lectures followed by Wet lab sessions which run for 90-120 minutes. All participants will have their own workstation fully equipped with a microscope, phacoemulsification machine, and audiovisual aids to assist the instructors and attendees.
Please note that places will be available on a first-come first-serve basis. Registration must be done in advance. Wet lab registration is only accepted in conjunction with Letter of recommendation from the Chief of the institute.
Centre for Sight Eye Institute (CFSEI) , located at sector 9, Dwarka is a premier eye-care facility. CFSEI offers Long term fellowship and Short term observership courses to enhance the skill set of Indian and International Ophthalmologists, enabling them to be better placed to serve the community.

MODE OF SELECTION: –Candidates for short-term fellowships will be selected on the basis of their academic credentials. The call letters will be sent on First Applied – First Accepted basis. Kindly send the duly filled application form to fellowship@centreforsight.net.The selection process for the long-term fellowship starts two months prior to the joining date, with the release of advertisements and notices in all ophthalmic channels and groups inviting applications.
